If you want to run a few head of cattle on your spread this holiday, one Colorado company has the stock you need.

But you may have to saddle up the old computer to get them. Primal Lite Outdoor Light Covers aren't sold in Colorado stores yet.

Sue Scott, who founded the company 15 years ago, has produced many wacky strings of lights, including lizards, red chili peppers, boxer shorts and pink flamingos.

"We've had the cow in our line for years. It's still one of our top sellers," she says. "It's the same cow we've used on our string lites."

The black and white cow covers retail for $22.50 a six pack and are made to fit over Intermatic Malibu outdoor lights. For more information call 1-800-473-6494. The Web site is at www.primallite.com. Malibu lights, which are speared into the ground, can be found at stores such as Home Depot and start at $20.

A former sculptor, Scott earned her fine arts degree from the San Francisco Art Institute and worked in a gallery. Later, the 46-year-old refined the art of business from her offices in Durango. She, along with her crew of 15 employees, does product development, design and marketing.

She first creates the light cover in clay, then sends it and color specifications to China for manufacturing. She seeks to give her designs the same warmth and funky charm as those plastic pink flamingos that migrate in and out of vogue.

One word of caution. The Malibu lights we purchased had a warning printed on the inside of their packaging that you can't see until after you open the box. It stated if any parts are missing, don't return your purchase to the store. Instead, contact the company and they will mail the missing parts within a week.

Before you buy, you ask might ask the customer service department to make sure all Malibu parts are in the box.
