Broncos fans to be wired into the latest NFL data

Let's say Brian Griese comes out firing in the Denver Broncos' debut of Invesco Field at Mile High, and he completes 19 consecutive passes.

Fans wondering how close he stands to a team record will need only to check the television monitors scattered throughout the stadium.

In a deal for a technology that exists in only one other National Football League stadium (Baltimore), the Broncos will team with Xstream Sports Inc. of Lowell, Mass., to provide constantly updated statistics, milestones and other information during games.

Fans will learn, almost before the question occurs to them, that Griese needs only one more completion to tie Hugh Millen's mark, set in consecutive games against the Raiders and 49ers in 1994.

Xstream's product, called the "@event system," will allow the Broncos to flash any kind of information to fans, including around-the-league updates, in three different formats.

"This system allows us to produce the same content, but in different shows for different areas of the building," said Greg Carney, Broncos senior director of marketing. "You could take the Xstream system and produce one show for fans in the bowl, change the look and feel for the suites, and have another look and feel for the club lounges. It's more targeted. If we have an upscale partner, more interested in premium customers, it would make more sense for them to be in the suites."

Xstream advertises the system as a rival to the comfort and satisfaction of watching the game in your living room.

"Our unique event-triggering delivers updated statistics and game information on each and every play," said XstreamSports Chief Executive Officer Dave Grandin. "@event combines the thrill of fans in-venue experience with statistical and league information they are used to getting while watching the game on their home television, providing them the best of both worlds."
