A jury on Monday will begin deliberating the fate of Christopher Ball, who could face life in prison for the killing of a homeless man.
The Denver district attorney is prosecuting Ball, 16, and two other young men in the fatal beating of Melvin Washington, 47, on Sept. 8.
Prosecutors and Ball's defense attorneys gave their closing arguments on Friday.
One of the defendants, Thomas Holden, 19, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. In exchange for his plea, Holden agreed to testify against Ball. Holden also is expected to testify against the third defendant, Nathan Harrison, who is 20.
Although the bodies of seven homeless men were discovered in Denver last fall, murder charges have only been filed in Washington's death.
