Denver police said Wednesday that a beating victim found dead in the South Platte River over the weekend was a transient.
That means four homeless men have been beaten to death this month near downtown.
Denver police have assigned a detective to coordinate information related to the four slayings and other assaults on homeless people to determine whether they're related, Sgt. Tony Lombard said.
Each of the victims was found in the lower downtown area, and their injuries show they died after being struck with a blunt object.
The latest victim was identified as Milo Harris, 51. He was found Sunday in the river near Cuernavaca Park.
Two homeless men were slain and their bodies discovered Sept. 7 under a loading dock at 2450 Blake St.
The next morning another transient was discovered beaten on a sidewalk in the 1100 block of 18th Street. He died a week later.
Anyone with information should call (303) 640-3540.
