Four men have been killed around downtown Denver this month, and police are trying to determine whether the cases are related.
At least three of the men were transients and were beaten to death. The fourth, whose body was found in the Platte River Sunday, hasn't been identified, so police say they don't know yet whether he was homeless.
His body was found near Cuernavaca Park in the Central Platte Valley about 2 p.m. Officers also discovered a trail of blood.
The victim appeared to be middle aged. He was fully clothed but had no identification. He'd suffered multiple internal injuries. Police are trying to determine whether he also was beaten.
Police said they have found similarities in three other killings, all of transient men:
* On Sept. 7, workmen unloading a truck in lower downtown north of Coors Field found the bodies of two men beneath a dock in the 2400 block of Blake Street. George W. Worth, 62, and Donald E. Dyer, 51, had been beaten.
* Sept. 8, another man was found dead on a sidewalk in the 1100 block of 18th Street. Melvin Washington, 47, was taken to Denver Health Medical Center with multiple head injuries. He died a week later.
