-LUCY APODACA, 77, of Denver died Jan. 3 in Wheat Ridge. Services were Jan. 8, with burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Mrs. Apodaca was born in Valmora, N.M., on April 2, 1923. She married Clement Apodaca. Survivors include daughters Susan Armijo of Denver, Clara Rimbert and Rose Onorato, both of New Mexico; nine brothers and sisters; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

-HELEN FRANCES ATKINSON, 91, of Callao, Va., formerly of Fort Collins died Dec. 14. Services were Dec. 16. Mrs. Atkinson was born on May 3, 1909. She married Roy Atkinson. She was a retired clerk with the University of Colorado Medical School's department of radiology. Survivors include Nancy Stuart-Loporto of Virginia; son Michael Stuart of South Carolina; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

-JARED ANDREW BAKARICH, 21, of Elizabeth died Jan. 4 in Denver. Services were Jan. 9. Mr. Bakarich was born in Tucson, Ariz., on April 15, 1979. He graduated from Elizabeth High School in 1997. He worked as an electronics technician with T.E.I. Engineered Products. He was a member of Calvary Chapel West in Phoenix. Survivors include mother Sabina Reyes of Phoenix; father Mike of Elizabeth; brothers Michael, Page, Zachariah Reyes and Anthony Reyes, all of Phoenix; sisters Korinne, Stephanie, Trinity Reyes, all of Phoenix, Brittany and Ashley, both of Elizabeth; grandmothers Corinne Owens and Mary, both of Arizona.

-JOSEPH RAMON CARDOZA, 89, of Highlands Ranch died Jan. 1. Services were Jan. 6. Mr. Cardoza was born in San Jose, Calif., on Sept. 25, 1911. He married Dorothy Hilliard. He served in the National Guard. He was a crane operator and foreman for the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 12. He was a member of Elks Club. Survivors include his wife; son Joe II; stepdaughter Janice Jones; stepson Dan Jones; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

-CARL E. CICERO, 41, of Aurora died Jan. 2. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 13120 E. Kentucky Ave, with burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Mr. Cicero was born in Quantico, Va., on June 16, 1959. He served in the Navy as a language specialist. He was a file maintenance specialist for Unipac. Survivors include parents Joseph and Hanna of Aurora; brothers Glenn of Arizona, John of Aurora; paternal grandmother Lillian of New Jersey.

-CLEO COUTURE, 74, of Denver died Dec. 25 in Lubbock, Texas. Memorial services were Dec. 30. Mrs. Couture was born in Monte Vista on July 16, 1926. She married Charles Couture, 1950. She worked for Eastman Co., formerly Capital Office Supply. Survivors include daughter Terri Buchanan of Texas; sister Gracie Willden of New Mexico; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

-MEADA MARY DILLON, 90, of Denver died Jan. 5. Services were Jan. 9, with burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Mrs. Dillon was born Meada Thornton in Dallas on May 9, 1910. She married Raymond Dillon. She was a homemaker. Survivors include sons Ray Jr. of California, James, John, Dan, all of Denver; daughter Judith Baenen of Denver; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

-LINDA EVANS, 49, of Aurora died Jan. 2. Services were Jan. 9, with burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Mrs. Evans was born in Manchester, N.H., on Jan. 11, 1951. She married Dan Evans, 1988. She was a fifth-grade teacher at Arkansas Elementary School. Survivors include her husband; mother Lorraine Kelliher of Aurora; brothers Lynn Kelliher of Lakewood, Cary Kelliher of Franktown, Steven Kelliher of Highlands Ranch; sister Valerie Steineck of Littleton.

-EDWARD A. EZMAN, 82, of Littleton died Jan. 2. Services were Jan. 5, with burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Mr. Ezman was born in Carbondale, Pa., on May 1, 1918. He married Kathryn Kubicz, 1941. He worked in security at Johns Mansville. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife; sons Ed Jr., Eugene and Terry, all of Littleton; daughters Karen Banik of New Jersey, Marie of Englewood; sister Mary Chernesky; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

-DOROTHY JANE KINSELL FONDREN, 83, of Denver died Jan. 2. Mrs. Fondren was born in Moriarty, N.M., on May 6, 1917. She married E. Lee Fondren, 1938. She was a homemaker and artist. Survivors include her husband; daughters Debra Charlton of Thornton, Sheila DeBaets of Golden; son Gregory of Aurora.

-GERALDINE ELAINE GERSTENBERGER, 73, of Denver died Jan. 1. Services were Jan. 5, with burial at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Gerstenberger was born in Winton, Wyo., on March 16, 1927. She married Murlin Louis, 1948. She was a registered nurse. She was a member of Byers American Legion Auxiliary and Deer Trail Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband; sons Thomas of Denver, Michael of Florida; daughter Susan Bachman of Boulder; sister Marjorie Lyon of California; five grandchildren.

-THOMAS EUGENE GLOVER, 31, of Broomfield died Jan. 4 in Denver. Memorial services were Jan. 6. Mr. Glover was born in Laramie, Wyo., on Oct. 29, 1969. He married Cindy Glover. He served in the Navy. He worked at smarttalk.com as a computer engineer. Survivors include his wife; daughter Taylor of Denver; stepdaughters Alexa and Lisa French of Broomfield; sister Tracee of Utah; fathers Thomas Martinez of Texas and James of New Mexico; mother Sheryl of Wyoming.

-VIRGINIA IRENE GOEBEL, 86, of Wheat Ridge died Dec. 30. Services were Jan. 8, with burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Mrs. Goebel was born Virginia McNulty in Denver on July 14, 1914. She married Ronald R. Goebel. She was a telecommunications clerk. Survivors include three nieces; a nephew.

-PEARL LOUISE GOEGLEIN, 90, of Lakewood died Dec. 23. Services were Dec. 27, with burial at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Goeglein was born in St. Francis, Kan., on Sept. 18, 1910. She married John Goeglein, 1936. She was a homemaker. Survivors include son Deloy of Lakewood; daughter Sharon Vail of Iowa; two brothers; four sisters; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

-EUGENE A. MARTINELLI, 57, of Lakewood died Jan. 2. Services were Jan. 8, with burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Mr. Martinelli was born in Denver on Jan. 10, 1943. He married Elaine Accomasso, 1990. He retired from the state. He was Grand Lodge president of the Sons of Italy 2075 and was a member of the Elks Lodge 17. Survivors include his wife; brother Richard of Lakewood.

-A. PEARL MILLER, 93, of Arvada died Dec. 24 in Westminster. Services were Jan. 6, with inurnment at Crown Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Miller was born in New Providence, Iowa on Feb. 4, 1907. She married Ralph Miller, 1933. She was a teacher and homemaker. She was a member of the Wheat Ridge Women's Club. Survivors include son Donald of Nevada; daughter Janice Blatnik of Arvada; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

-JOHN JOSEPH NOVINGER, 78, of Aurora died Jan. 1. Services were Jan. 8, with burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Mr. Novinger was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on Oct. 20, 1922. He served in the Army during World War II. He was in the automotive business. Survivors include son David of Littleton; daughters Kristi of California, Debbie Powers of Littelton; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild.

-ESTHER FAY PIERCE, 82, of Lakewood died Jan. 2. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Mrs. Pierce was born Esther Lull in Selma, Calif., on July 7, 1918. She married Robert Pierce, 1945. She was a licensed practical nurse. Survivors include her husband; daughter Georgia Fike of Aurora; sons Herman of Thailand, Lester of Arvada; three grandchildren; a great-granchild.

-LEON M. PIPER, 88, of Lakewood died Dec. 31. Mr. Piper was born in Maywood, Neb., on April 28, 1912. He married Kathryn Goodwin, 1935. He served in the Armed Forces during World War II. He was a retired auditor for the state and a real estate broker. He was a member of Kiwanis Club. Survivors include his wife; sons Douglas of Littleton, Jack of New Mexico, James of Littleton; daughter Vicki Gerton of Washington; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

-FRANCES HOEL PORRO, 91, of Lakewood died Jan. 3. Services were private. Mrs. Porro was born in Denver on June 21, 1909. She married Edward Matthews, then Robert Porro. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include son David Matthews of Silverthorne; brother Alfred Hoyl of Rollingsville; sister Jane Rogers of Utah; two grandchildren.

-BURKE M. ROSSEAU, 88, of Littleton died Jan. 1. Mr. Rosseau was born in Cumberland, Md., on Sept. 28, 1912. He married Wilda McLain, 1947. Survivors include his wife; son Mike of Denver; daughter Rita Galt of Englewood; four grandchildren.

-MELVIN J. SANDER, 68, of Arvada died Jan. 5. Services were Jan. 8, with burial at St. Fidelis Cemetery in Kansas. Mr. Sander was born in Victoria, Kan., on March 20, 1932. He married Rosemary Wanner. He was a truck driver for Safeway Stores. Survivors include his wife.

-JAMES THOMAS TURNER, 67, of Denver died Jan. 5. Services were Jan. 10, with burial at Grand View Cemetery. Mr. Turner was born in Denver on March 15, 1933. He married Sharrie Turner. He worked at Mountain Bell Telephone and Denver Fire Department. He was a sculptor, and was listed in Who's Who of American Art. Survivors include his wife; sons James Jr., Robert, Grant, Cody, Colt, Justin; six grandchildren.

-CRAIG P. URBAN, 33, of Vail died Jan. 1. Services were Jan. 9, with burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Mr. Urban was born in Denver on Feb. 19, 1967. He was a department supervisor in the hotel industry. Survivors include father Jerry of Highlands Ranch; sister Lori Droogan of Aurora; brother Brent of Denver.
