    Families of 14 victims sue, adding to tally against sheriff

    Eight lawsuits were filed against the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department on Wednesday by the families of 14 people who were killed or wounded at Columbine High School a year ago today.

    Wednesday's lawsuits bring to nine the total filed so far against the sheriff's office by family members. The family of Isaiah Shoels, who died at the school, sued the sheriff's office Tuesday.

    Lawsuits were filed Wednesday by the families of the following people who died:

    Students Kelly Fleming, Matthew Kechter, Dan Rohrbough, Lauren Townsend and Kyle Velasquez, and teacher Dave Sanders.

    Lawsuits were filed Wednesday by the families of the following students who were wounded:

    Richard Castaldo, Sean Graves, Lance Kirklin, Jeanna Park, Kacey Ruegsegger, Valeen Schnurr, Evan Todd and Mark Taylor.

    The Schnurr, Todd, Park, Ruegsegger, Sanders, Rohrbough, Fleming, Kechter, Townsend and Velasquez families sued in Denver U.S. District Court.

    The Castaldo, Graves, Kirklin, Taylor and Shoels families sued in Jefferson County District Court.
